Refund Policy

Plain-English summary

Every paid plan — Monthly and Annual — comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Before that, you also get a 3-day free trial with no charge. After day 30, Annual refunds are pro-rated. Content Lab credits you have already used are not refundable. Contact legal@patnick.com.

1. Overview

This Refund Policy describes when and how Patnick issues refunds. It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to all customers located in the United States and the European Union. Patnick is a Finnish private limited company (osakeyhtiö / Oy) registered at Keltasafiirinpolku 1A 07, 01300 Vantaa, Finland.

2. Free trial (no charge)

  • New customers receive a 3-day free trial of the Core package.
  • A valid payment method is required to start the trial, but you are not charged during the trial.
  • Cancel any time before the end of day 3 and no charge is made. Because no money changed hands, no refund is needed.
  • At the end of day 3, the plan you selected begins billing automatically.
  • The Content Lab add-on is not part of the free trial. If you choose to add it, it is billed immediately; refunds for Content Lab follow the rules in section 4 below.

3. 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans

Every paid plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If, within 30 days of your first paid charge, you decide Patnick is not right for you, email legal@patnick.com and we will issue a full refund of that first charge.

  • Applies to Monthly and Annual plans.
  • Refunds are returned to the original payment method.
  • No questions asked beyond verifying that the request comes from the account owner.

4. After day 30

4.1 Monthly plan

  • You can cancel at any time from your account settings.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • No partial / mid-month refunds are issued.

4.2 Annual plan

  • If you cancel after day 30, we refund the unused full months remaining on the subscription, minus a flat USD 29 processing fee.
  • Example: you paid USD 948 for 12 months and cancel after 4 full months of use. Refund = (948 × 8 / 12) − 29 = USD 603.
  • Partial months are not refunded.

4.3 Content Lab add-on

  • The Content Lab subscription itself follows the same 30-day refund rules as the Core package.
  • AI article-generation credits that you have already consumed are non-refundable, because we have already paid OpenAI and our editorial team for that work.
  • Unused credits within the refund window are refundable.

5. EU consumer rights

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits your rights as a consumer under the laws of your EU / EEA country of residence, including the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (38/1978).

If you are an EU / EEA consumer and you want immediate access to the service before the end of the statutory 14-day withdrawal period, you are asked to expressly consent to the immediate start of performance and to acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may be lost once the digital service is fully supplied (Art. 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive). Even so, you always retain our 30-day money-back guarantee, which is at least as favourable.

EU consumers can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

6. No refund in these cases

  • Accounts terminated for violation of the Acceptable Use section of our Terms of Service (including black-hat SEO, unauthorised site access, fraud, or chargeback abuse).
  • Content Lab credits that have already been consumed.
  • Charges older than 30 days, except for the pro-rated Annual rule in section 4.2.

7. Chargebacks

Please contact us before initiating a chargeback — most refund requests are resolved within a few business days. If a chargeback is opened without first writing to us, we may suspend the account, terminate the subscription without refund, and submit the supporting evidence to the card network.

8. How to request a refund

  1. Email legal@patnick.com from the address associated with your account.
  2. Include the order or invoice ID (optional) and, if you want, the reason for the refund.
  3. We respond within 2 business days.
  4. Approved refunds are issued via Stripe and typically appear on your card within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

9. Taxes on refunds

When a refund is issued, any VAT or sales tax originally collected through Stripe Tax is reversed proportionally on the refund transaction. Your Stripe invoice and credit note will show the breakdown.
